LACMTA proposes to construct the East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor Phase 1 Project, a 6.7-mile at-grade light rail transit (LRT) system with 11 stations, nine traction power substations, overhead contact system, and a maintenance and storage facility.

The Project would improve mobility in the area by:

  • introducing an improved north-south transit connection between key transit hubs/routes;

  • enhancing transit accessibility/connectivity for residents to local and regional destinations and activity centers;

  • increasing transit service efficiency; and

  • encouraging a modal shift from driving to achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. 

This transit project - forecasted to open in 2028 - will use the same rail technology as Metro’s A, C, E and L Lines adding 14 new stations between the G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station and the Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink Station. This system for the Valley means better transit with improved quality and service.

Phased Approach
